Yvette-Michelle Cottle's combined
taste for elegance and her quest to find unique fashion accessories led
her to start creating her own handbags, hats and jewellery. Her
friends and
family started making their own request. With time, what started out as a hobby and great
gift idea, evolved into a business idea. Yvette-Michelle and her mother Dr. Cheryl V. Cottle developed the idea and Verona Collections was launched in the Summer of 1994.
Since establishing Verona Collections, Yvette-Michelle has been professionally designing and fabricating her original designs. She originally created a full line of fashion accessories including
silk scarves, hats, handbags, and jewellery. However, after the closing of her Queen Street,
Toronto boutique, Yvette-Michelle started focusing on her handbags. However, in 2006 she will be reintroducing her full line of accessories and adding a new dimension to Verona Collections, with the introduction of some great new products.
Yvette-Michelle's extensive collection of fashion accessories including handbags and purses are produced in-house. Some of her designs are produced at her studio in Toronto, while others are produced at her studio in Trinidad and Tobago. Yvette-Michelle also relies upon the expertise of
her well trained assistants to create her unique designs. All of her designs are original handmade pieces. Her attention to detail and her love for textiles, translates into the use of a rich blend of fabrics including brocades, embroidered silk, vintage fabrics, and crystal studded hand painted detailing.
Yvette-Michelle's designs have a sweet charm and subtle elegance that allow them to transcend time. Much of her training in textile artistry was attained in her native island of Trinidad and Tobago. This Caribbean influence is reflected in the colours, textures and eclectic mixture of designs that is present in her collections.
Her designs have been showcased at various trade and craft shows including, the "Mode Accessories Show" and "The One-of-a-Kind Show." Her designs are available at her studios, through Independent Sales Representatives and selected boutiques and gift shops in Canada,
and the Caribbean.
